Gospel of John, chapter 17
Jesus Prays for Himself - Jesus Prays for His Disciples - Jesus Prays for All Believers
Gospel of John, chapter 17 These things spoke Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven and said; Father, the hour has come; glorify your son, in order that your son also may glorify you, as you gave him authority over all flesh, so that (to) everyone who have given him he would give them eternal life. This however is the eternal life, that they would know you, (as) the only true God and the one whom you have sent Jesus Christ. I glorified you upon the earth, the work I have finished which you have given me to do; and now glorify me, Father, near you with the glory which I had before the world existed next to you. I revealed your name to the men whom you have given me from the world. They were yours and you have given them to me, and your word they have kept. Now they have known that all things that you have given me are from you; that the words which you have given me I have given to them, and they received (them), and they have truly known that I came forth from you and they have believed that you sent me. I am requesting about them; I am not requesting about the world, but about those whom you have given to me, for yours they are, And all things which are mine are yours and your things are mine, and I have been glorified in them. And I am no more in the world, and these are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name which you have given me, in order that they may be one, as we (are one). When I was with them in the world, I was keeping them in your name; the ones you have given me I guarded them and not one of them has perished except for the son of destruction, for the scripture to be fulfilled. But now I am coming to you, and I speak these (while) in the world in order that they may have the joy of mine having been fulfilled in themselves. I have given them your word, and the world hated them, because they are not from the world, just-as I am not from the world. I am not asking that you should take them out of the world, but in order for you to protect them from the evil one. from the world they are not, as I from the world I am not (either). Sanctify them in your truth; your word is truth. Just-as you sent me into the world, I also sent them into the world. And on their behalf I sanctify myself, in order that themselves also may also be made holy in truth. Its not about them however that I am only requesting, but also about those who have believed through the teaching of them in me, in order that they all may be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, in order that they may also in us become one, in order that the world may believe that you sent me. And I the glory which you have given me I have given to them, so that they may be one just-as we are one, I in them and you in me, so that they may be perfected in unity, and for the world to know that you sent me and you loved them just-as you loved me. Father, whom you have given me, I wish that where I am they may also be with me, so that they may view the glory of mine which you gave me, because you loved me before the world existed. O righteous Father, and the world did not know you, but I knew you, and these knew that you have sent me; and I made known to them your name and will be making it known, in order that the love in which you loved me may be in them, and I am in them.
